The Stauros Foundation is an evangelistic agency that helps people who have addiction issues and offers support to their families. Stauros’ is the Greek word found in the New Testament that refers to the cross of Christ. This name was chosen because in Stauros they believe that Christ is the key to contented sober living.

Stauros became a registered charity in Scotland in 1980. It was founded by Arthur Williams who at that time was pastor of the Findlay Memorial Church in Glasgow. The vision for the work stirred in Arthur as a result of his addiction to alcohol and his subsequent conversion to Christ. It seemed to him that God inspired him to reach out to other people like himself, offering them the answer he had found in Christian faith.
